ABOUT THIS SITE

This site is under construction.  It  will be devoted to work that is not available for sale, work that is in private collections. There will also be a few of the commissions I have done to order.  I will try to show a good cross section of pieces I've created over my more than thirty years of sculpting.  I would like to give you an idea of my versitility, and the different styles I use to express myself in clay.  Each sculpture I do, is an original, however, if you see something here you like, I can  re-create something similar for you.  Since I do not use molds, or patterns in my work, no two pieces will ever be the same.

For work that is currently available,  please go to my main site, ediepfeifer.com.  You will find a link to this site on the "links of interest" page.

ABOUT THE ART

Edie’s sculptures are created first in solid clay. They are then hollowed, dried, and bisque fired very slowly, to avoid cracking. Finally, a patina is applied with a combination of acrylic and oil paints, plus special waxes. The entire process can take weeks or months, depending on the size and complexity of the piece.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Edie Pfeifer was raised near the beach in Southern California. She loved working with clay from childhood. Her early art education was at Santa Monica College, where her favorite classes were sculpture and ceramics. During her child rearing years she worked out of her home studio while continuing to take classes. After moving to Hermosa Beach in 1969, she studied figurative sculpture for four years, developing several different styles. A wide range of versatility is reflected in the work Edie creates today. She is especially inspired by the movement and flow of the sea.
